Abstract
Phenylephrine is used in spinal anesthesia to treat hypotension. The administration of phenylephrine can result in hypertension and bradycardia secondary to alpha-adrenergic stimulation. High dose phenylephrine can cause tachycardia. Here, we report a case of 75- year-old woman with adrenal insufficiency controlled with prednisolone undergoing spinal anesthesia for total knee replacement. After induction of anesthesia, hypotension was corrected using conventional doses of phenylephrine, but heart rate was increased.
